# Testing

> Sandbox test cards, CVV rules, and how to trigger a specific response.

All testing must be done against the sandbox (`api-sandbox.paychoice.com.au`). Anything sent to the live environment incurs real fees and charges.

## Trigger a specific response

On the sandbox, the decimal part of the `amount` on a charge selects the gateway error code you get back. For example `10.51` returns error code `51` (Insufficient Funds) with the matching `status`, `error` and `error_code`; `10.00` is approved. See [Errors](https://developers.paychoice.com.au/reference/errors.md) for the code list.

## Test credit cards

| Issuer | Card number |
| - | - |
| American Express | 378282246310005 |
| Diners Club | 30569309025904 |
| MasterCard | 5413330089010640, 5413330089600119 |
| Visa | 4761739001010010, 4005520000000129, 4035874000424977 |

Any future expiry date is accepted.

## Test CVV

The first three characters of the CVV determine the result.

| CVV | Passes validation |
| - | - |
| 000–300 | Yes |
| 301–999 | No |

## Bank accounts and webhooks

Bank charges in the sandbox follow the same `Processing` → final-status flow as production, so you can exercise your webhook handling end to end. Register a sandbox [webhook](https://developers.paychoice.com.au/getting-the-result/webhooks.md) and use Retry Notification to re-send a notification on demand.

## Postman

Every endpoint in these docs has a runnable request in the [PayChoice Postman collection](https://api-docs.paychoice.com.au), with saved example responses.
